73 public schoolgirls selected to participate in the Power4Girls program

The program focuses on the empowerment of girls through strategies focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity and leadership.

Brasília, February 4, 2022: Seventy-three girls from public schools in fifteen Brazilian states have been selected to participate, from March to September 2022, in the Power4Girls – Empower to Lead! program – an initiative that will empower girls through activities focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, and leadership. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and Consulates, in partnership with Gloria Institute and with institutional support from CONIF (National Council of Institutions of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific, and Technological Education). Between March and September, 20 teams, each composed of three to four girls, a teacher, and a mentor, will participate in workshops, lectures, interactive online activities, and will be learn about leadership, female empowerment and entrepreneurship through creativity and innovation, project development and management, design thinking, and tools of the virtual world.

At the conclusion of the program, the teams will come to Brasília to present their projects at an innovation fair and make a final pitch of team-designed solutions to problems faced in their respective communities. For the 2022 edition, the theme will be Environment and Sustainability, contributing to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – a global plan of action to address some of the most pressing issues affecting our world.

Teams were selected from the following states: Acre, Amapá, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Tocantins, and the Federal District.
