Alumni of USG-Sponsored Programs Attend “Alumnus to Advocate” Training in Recife

Twelve participants of different programs sponsored by the U.S. Government, including Youth Ambassadors, English Immersion, Science Camp, and International Visitor Leadership Program attended a training in Recife on July 30-31. The goal of the training was to exchange experiences and develop strategies to mobilize other USG program alumni in their communities to advance important bilateral priorities. The program also served to integrate this group from the Northeast into the national network U.S.-Brazil Exchange Alumni, which includes leaders from every state in Brazil.

During the two-day workshop, the participants from Pernambuco, Sergipe, Rio Grande do Norte, and Fortaleza talked about the role of USG program alumni in in Brazil and discussed strategies to engage other alumni from U.S. government programs in joint actions. The group also participated in a full-day media training to learn how to engage press and promote their projects and initiatives.
