My family and I are pleased to send our warmest greetings and wishes to all Americans celebrating Thanksgiving in Brazil this year.
Thanksgiving Day is one of the most widely celebrated holidays in the United States, Americans everywhere gather with family and friends to reflect on the humble beginnings that shaped our nation and the compassion and contributions of Native Americans, who shared their food with the newly arrived Pilgrims centuries ago. We remember those who have served and sacrificed their lives for the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy. We share good food and family traditions that reflect the diverse cultures that make up America. And, we express gratitude for the year’s bounties and blessings and the important things in life – our families, friends, and a hopeful future.
As Americans in Brazil, we are fortunate to live in a country, whose people share many of our same values and which is as rich in the diversity of cultures as our own. This year, through educational and cultural opportunities, business ventures, government-sponsored exchanges and many other opportunities, Americans throughout Brazil, developed and deepened ties with Brazilians and Brazilian organizations that will lead to a better future for our citizens and our countries.
As my family and I celebrate our second Thanksgiving in Brazil, we are thankful for the opportunity to live and serve here and to interact with you as each of us does our part to strengthen ties between the United States and Brazil.
Happy Thanksgiving!
