Dr. Alejandro Banda (Clinical Professor at MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine) demonstrates the correct way to obtain a swab from a healthy chicken to workshop participants. USDA APHIS, in collaboration with the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, MSU, and UnB delivered a workshop for first responders in case of an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza. Participants from 10 South American veterinary services, had an opportunity to expand their knowledge related to diseases of poultry, biosecurity techniques, and incident response.
