Earth Day contest at the U.S. Embassy recognizes student artwork

Students from the art classes at the American School of Brasilia (EAB) and the School of Nations (EDN) participated in an Earth Day art contest organized by the U.S. Embassy’s Green Team, as an initiative to promote greater awareness of the importance of recycling to protect the oceans and environment.  Students from both schools submitted art suggesting solutions to Earth’s environmental challenges.

Of the many submissions, 15 works of art were selected for recognition, and were displayed in the Embassy’s lobby. The artists, their parents, teachers and administrators were invited to the U.S. Embassy to attend a ceremony on May 3 to recognize their great works. Chargé d’Affaires William Popp hosted the ceremony in which he praised the students for their creativity and initiative, and thanked the students and teachers for their participation in the Earth Day Art Contest.
