- Rita Rico, Consul
Rita Rico is the American Presence Officer and Public Affairs Officer for Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. She previously served the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela as a political officer, the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya as a consular officer, and the U.S. Embassy in Santiago, Chile as deputy cultural attaché.
Rita is originally from Chicago, but San Diego is now home when in the United States. Prior to serving as a diplomat, Rita worked as an advisor in the U.S. Senate.
Rita has a Ph.D. in Political Theory (UCLA), MA in Sociology (University of Guadalajara, Mexico), and a BA from Stanford University. Her foreign languages are Spanish and Portuguese.
