Expert discusses the U.S. experience in Media Literacy in Brazil

Christine Nyirjesy Bragale to lecture on Media Literacy in Manaus, Brasília, and São Paulo

 

From November 6 to 13, the U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Brazil will bring the Vice-President of one of the most renowned U.S. Non-government organizations in Media Literacy, the News Literacy Project, to lecture and participate in roundtable discussion on Media Literacy and Informational Disorder. The visit of the American specialist is one of the U.S. Diplomatic Mission’s initiatives to promote dialogue and mutual understanding between Brazilians and Americans. The program is a partnership with Fundação Rede Amazônia, Binational Center Icbeu Manaus, Correio Braziliense, USP, Palavra Aberta, Énois, Alumini, and the State of S. Paulo Secretariat of Education.

Mrs. Bragale will visit Manaus, Brasilia, and São Paulo, will meet with students, professors, journalists, and members of civil society to share her experience and discuss ways to deal with the overload of information and the difficulty in determining the veracity of what is propagated in digital media, as well as techniques to encourage critical thinking among news young consumers.

Mrs. Bragale is a veteran international journalist.  She previously worked as part of the White House press corps.  She has received more than 30 awards for her work in the area of communication. Link to her biography: https://goo.gl/1gJcEF
