Position:                    Fraud Investigator, FSN-6; FP-8, A30-1430-123 – Trainee Level*

Work Hours:              Full-time, 40 hours/week

Salary:                        Ordinarily Resident (OR):  FSN-6** – R$ 53.280,00 per year

The U.S. Mission in Brazil is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Fraud Investigator in the Consular Section.

Basic Function of Position

This is the single training level established to provide time and opportunity for the incumbent to acquire the knowledge, training and experience necessary to perform the functions of the position at the full performance level.

Under the direct supervision of the Consular Section’s Fraud Prevention Manager, incumbent is responsible for assisting in the detection and prevention of visa and passport fraud, investigating cases where fraud is suspected and reporting on findings.

Qualifications Required

  1. Education:University degree in either law, finance or public administration is required
  2. Experience:Progressively responsible experience in administrative work is required.
  3. Language(This will be tested):
  • Level 3 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.
  • Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Portuguese is required.
  1. Skills and Abilities(This will be tested):
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point to develop fraud presentations is required.
  • A valid local driver’s license category B is required.

Hiring Preference Selection Process:

Additional Selection Criteria:

  1. Management may consider the following when determining successful candidacy:  nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
  2. Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.  Current OR employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
  3. Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
  4. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold the following: local security certification.
  5. Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.
