The U.S. Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro will open its visa section on Friday, May 29, 2014, for a guided press tour. The event will start with a U.S. diplomat briefing media about the step-by-step for getting a non-immigrant visa, followed by a tour of the consular section facilities.
Beginning on April, 2012, the U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Brazil changed the visa application process, significantly reducing the average wait time for a visa interview to two days. Due to the procedures, applicants only spend an average of 18 minutes at the Consulate for the visa interview.
