Health Alert

Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Brasilia, Brazil (June 5, 2020)

Location:  Brazil

Event:  Health Alert

Brazil continues to experience widespread transmission of COVID-19.  While some regions in Brazil are reopening, health experts recommend thinking carefully before leaving your homes. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.  If you decide to go out, make sure you are taking the proper precautions outlined in the recommendations below.  Some errands can wait for later or can be done differently as part of adjusting to the COVID-19 pandemic.  If you must go out, think ahead and plan appropriately.

As of this time, U.S. bound commercial flights from Brazil continue to run.  As flights are subject to change, please contact airlines directly for the most current schedule information.  We continue to encourage U.S. citizens who wish to return to the United States to make commercial flight arrangements as soon as possible unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period.  The U.S. government does not currently anticipate arranging repatriation flights from Brazil.

Actions to Take:

Follow Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations on social distancing, avoiding large groups, wearing a mask, and frequent hand hygiene.
