Health Alert – COVID-19 and Absentee Voting

April 10, 2020

Location:  Brazil

Event:  Health Alert

Did you know that U.S. citizens living overseas can vote absentee in their state’s upcoming election, no matter where they are? The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and the potential impact it may have on the election cycle.  For additional information on potential changes to your state’s primary election and how to vote absentee, visit FVAP.gov/COVID-19.

The U.S. Embassy in Brasilia encourages all U.S. citizens in Brazil to enroll in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security and health updates.  U.S. citizens who wish to return to the United States should make commercial arrangements as soon as possible unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period.  The U.S. government does not currently anticipate arranging repatriation flights in Brazil.
