The U.S. Department of Homeland Security warns individuals to remain vigilant for scams related to COVID-19. Cyber actors may send emails with malicious attachments or fraudulent websites. The best source of authoritative information on COVID-19 is the Centers for Disease Control’s website (CDC). U.S. citizens in Brazil can also go to the Brazilian Ministry of Health for specific COVID-19 information to Brazil.
The U.S. Embassy in Brasilia encourages all U.S. citizens in Brazil to enroll in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security and health updates. U.S. citizens who wish to return to the United States should make commercial arrangements as soon as possible unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period.
Actions to Take:
- Dial 192 for emergency services in Brazil if you have severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing.
- Consult the CDC website for the most up-to-date information on the disease. For information on what you can do to reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19, please see the CDC’s latest recommendations.
