Increased Criminal Activity in Parts of Sao Paulo

There have been several recent criminal incidents in the Sao Paulo neighborhood of Santo Amaro, particularly on Rua Belterra between the hours of midnight and 5:00 am.   No one was hurt in these incidents. Criminals may commit acts of violence if victims do not comply with their requests.

Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, and monitor local news stations for updates.  Be vigilant and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security. The Consulate recommends using caution when traveling during hours of darkness.
