Porto Alegre, November 8, 2022 – The U.S. Consulate General in Porto Alegre informs that it will conduct its annual security exercise for large events this Wednesday, November 9. This year’s simulation will take place at the consulate’s facilities and vicinity and is part of trainings that takes place annually at U.S. government diplomatic facilities around the world. The main goal of the exercise is to prepare the reaction of employees to emergency situations and to coordinate the response with local services activated in such situations. The exercise, which will take place between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., will have the participation of the Military Police, BOPE, Fire Department, EPTC and SAMU. The training will involve police cars, ambulances, alarms and explosions. Bezerra de Menezes Street will be closed between Avenidas Assis Brasil and Greece. The consulate will be closed to the public and there will be no service for visa applicants during this period.
