Routine Message for U.S. Citizens: Closing of U.S. Embassy and Consulates throughout Brazil on December 5, 2018, in honor of President George H.W. Bush
President Trump has declared Wednesday, December 5, 2018, a National Day of Mourning in the United States, in recognition of the passing of former President George H.W. Bush. In observance of this solemn occasion, the U.S. federal government, including the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia, and all U.S. consulates and other offices/agencies in Brazil will close on December 5, 2018.

With this closing, ALL regularly scheduled consular services, including visa appointments and regular American Citizen Services appointments, will be rescheduled.
We will continue to provide assistance to U.S. citizens requiring emergency services.
We will resume regular services on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
Please note: Our Applicant Service Centers (ASC) throughout Brazil will remain open regular hours on Wednesday, December 5.
