YLAI 2021: Opportunity for Young Entrepreneurs and Civil Society Leaders

The program offers 280 vacancies for young people from Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada and registration is open until February 25

Brasilia, January 21, 2021: The “Young Leaders of the Americas (YLAI)” Scholarship Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, is looking for young entrepreneurs and civil society leaders in Brazil to participate in a six-week program focused on commercial and social entrepreneurship from October 11 to November 19, 2021 in the United States. Registrations will be accepted until 14:00 on February 25, 2021.

YLAI brings promising young leaders from Latin America, Canada, and the Caribbean each year to the United States to expand their leadership and entrepreneurship skills and networking through skills development workshops and opportunities to learn and exchange experiences with peers in the U.S. Participants will be selected through a competitive registration process. More than 750 participants from previous editions of YLAI maintain a cohesive network in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada to support each other’s efforts to improve their own ventures, share best practices, and collaborate to reduce the opportunity gap, and contribute to economic prosperity in their communities.

Due to the intensive nature of the program, applicants should be fully focused on their professional development and program activities throughout the six-week period in the United States.

The program is open to Brazilian entrepreneurs and leaders who meet the following requirements:

  • Are between 25 and 35 years old on the start date of the program;
  • Reside in Brazil;
  • Have a history of growing your own business or social enterprise for at least two (2) years;
  • Have proficiency in reading, writing and speaking in English.
