The Department of State has recently streamlined its worldwide consular messaging system to issue a Travel Advisory for every country. The Advisory takes existing travel information previously contained within travel warnings and alerts and emergency and security messages and converts it into consistent worldwide standardized format. The new Advisory does not represent a substantive change to the previous information published for American citizens visiting Brazil.
We consider many factors to determine the Travel Advisory level for each country. The information used to formulate Travel Advisories is collected from a range of sources, including crime statistics and other information that is publicly available.
