Message for U.S. Citizens: Recife Temporary Suspension of Routine Consular Services June 20 to July 12

The U.S. Consulate General in Recife will suspend routine consular services temporarily from June 20 to July 12.  American citizens and visa applicants may schedule appointments at our U.S. Consulates in São Paulo, Porto Alegre, and Rio de Janeiro or at the Embassy in Brasilia.  During this time, we will be renovating our facility to better serve our customers.  Other sections of the consulate will operate normally.

ACS: Routine services to U.S. citizens will be temporarily suspended.  American Citizen Services will only provide emergency services during this time.  Our Consular Agency in Fortaleza, which provides routine services to U.S. citizens, will operate normally.

VISAS: The Applicant Service Center (CASV) in Pina will still be open for biometric collection (picture and fingerprints).  Visa applicants may schedule a biometric collection appointment at the CASV during this time and schedule a visa interview appointment at the consulate for a later date.  Interview waiver cases will be processed normally.  The Consulate is providing additional interview appointment times for visas in May and the first half of June for applicants who wish to apply in advance.
