On April 23, U.S. Ambassador to Brazil Liliana Ayalde made her first visit to the city of Fortaleza, in Ceara state. The main objective of the visit was to foster commercial relations between Brazilian and American companies. Ayalde was the special guest of the American Chamber of Commerce at the announcement of the new branch of AmCham in Fortaleza. The CEO of AmCham-Brazil, Gabriel Rico, and 40 business executives also attended the event.
The new AmCham office in Fortaleza will be located at the Centurion Business Center and will open in May with an event for the local business community. AmCham has two other regional offices in the Brazilian Northeast: one in Recife, which has been active for 15 years and has 500 associated companies; and one in Salvador, which opened five years ago and has 120 associates.
During her visit in Fortaleza, Ambassador Liliane Ayalde also gave an interview on the TV Verdes Mares news program Good Morning Ceara. The interview is available on the TV station website.
