The U.S. Consulate General in São Paulo launches a photo contest “What do you like the most about the United States?” sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. The two winning photos will be published as cover pages for the Consulate’s page on Facebook, and the authors of the photos will each win as a prize a mini iPad (wi-fi, 32GB).
To participate, the candidates will send to the email consuladoeua.saopaulo@america.gov an image that best answers the question, “What do you like the most about the United States?” The person will also have to send a 400 character text (which includes spaces) justifying his or her answer, plus the form available in this link: XXX.
As of today (January 25, 2018), the date of the announcement of the contest here on the website of the Diplomatic Mission and the Consulate’s Facebook page, followers will have 15 (fifteen) consecutive days to send their photos (this date is February 9, 2018).
After this deadline, the judging commission, formed by five members of the Diplomatic Mission’s Public Affairs Section will announce the two winning images on March 1, 2018. The images will be judged under the criteria of creativity, originality, consistency with the theme and the format proposed by the contest. The accompanying test will also be considered along with the image.
The photo sent to the contest will be considered as final, and cannot be modified, edited or replaced. The unique participants also cannot submit more than one photo.
The submitted photo has to be an original one, digital or analogical, and taken by the participant. In the case of an analogical one, the participant will have to scan it and send the digital file by e-mail in the same way as if it was an original digital photo.
Participation in the contest is considered acceptance of the official rules. A participant must be at least 18 years old at the time of submission of their photos. A participant must be a resident of the states of Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina or Mato Grosso do Sul (as in, the Consular District of Consulate General Sao Paulo) and they must not be a United States citizen nor legal permanent resident of the United States. The winners will have to show proof of their place of residence. Click here to have access to the complete rules.
