Brasília, January 5, 2024: The Embassy and Consulates of the United States in Brazil are proud to announce a significant milestone: 1.125 million visas were issued to Brazilians in 2023. This remarkable increase reflects the concerted efforts made by our consulates nationwide to reduce visa interview wait times and provide a streamlined application process.

“We are thrilled to witness such a substantial rise in visa issuances. This achievement not only highlights the strong ties between our two nations but also demonstrates the growing interest of Brazilians in exploring tourism and educational opportunities in the United States,” said Scott Riedmann, Acting Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs for the U.S. Embassy and Consulates.
In 2023, we increased the number of Consular officials across the country, opened hundreds of thousands of additional appointments, prioritized visa for students returning to their studies, and simplified the visa renewal process to better serve Brazilian travelers.
This milestone serves as a testament to our ongoing dedication and commitment to expand and improve the efficiency of our Consular operations to meet this historic demand for visas.
