OneBeat Virtual seeks to integrate musicians spread over 50 countries and territories and will offer new forms of musical collaboration
Brasilia, January 25, 2022: Applications for the 2022 OneBeat Virtual exchange program, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State, are open until February 11, 2022. The program seeks to create virtual connections among 35 musicians spread over 50 countries and territories, and will offer new forms of musical collaboration, to compose, produce and perform new collaborative musical pieces. The participants will take part in virtual masterclasses and workshops, and will produce a streaming concert available to the public. Participation in the program will involve 28 working days over the course of 8 weeks (from July 11 to September 6).
Interested musicians must be between 19 and 35 years old, fluent in English, have undergone formal or non-formal training in any musical genre, and be engaged in social projects. The program focuses on developing projects that explore innovation within a particular field of artistic engagement, digital media or technology. In addition to the exchange and collaboration, participants will receive a $1,500 grant to support their activities. OneBeat Virtual offers a unique opportunity for Fellows to incubate ideas for new forms of virtual collaboration engaging communities around the world, supported by mentorship and collaborative exchange. Past participants have developed projects that foster diversity and inclusion, develop new technologies, broaden access to education, encourage economic empowerment, engage with issues like climate change, and build community resilience.
