Access Amazon Program will address sustainability aligned with language learning
Brasília, August 31, 2022: The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil, through the Regional English Language Office (RELO), in partnership with Grupo +Unidos and strategic support from the Plataforma Parceiros pela Amazônia (PPA), announced this Wednesday (31), the list of 140 people selected for the Access Amazon program. The course aims at teaching English to young indigenous people, quilombola community representatives, riverine dwellers and people from extractivist communities. Furthermore, the goal is to expand their leadership potential and knowledge about environmental causes.
The 140 selected participants live in the nine states of Amazônia Legal. They will have classes from September 2022 to June 2023. During the online meetings, learners will practice English while sharing their experiences and practices regarding the environment and the Amazon, its peoples and cultures.
