U.S. Embassy Hosts Visual Reading Workshop for Teachers, Librarians, and Educators

The workshop will be held by the Thomas Jefferson House in partnership with the Open Word Institute and the EducaMídia program

Brasília, May 31, 2023: The U.S. Embassy’s American Spaces office in Brazil, in partnership with the Casa Thomas Jefferson American Space, is promoting the workshop Visual Reading: Developing the ability to read images and other multi-literacies.

The course seeks to integrate media education into the teaching of any subject, enabling more complete and comprehensive training for reading images, photos, graphics, and maps. In addition, participants will also learn about critical consumption and conscious production of media, developing the ability to ‘multilearn’ as a way to enrich student learning.
