U.S. Government selects Brazilians to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in California

The U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Brazil is pleased to announce the names of the Brazilians selected to take part in the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) to be held from June 22-24 in Palo Alto, California.  They will be part of a group of more than 700 entrepreneurs, investors, speakers, and business leaders from around the world.

The three Brazilians selected to participate in the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit are:

  • Lídia Linck Lagemann is from Santa Rosa, Rio Grande do Sul.  She is the general manager of Biotecno – a medical/scientific refrigeration company.  The company was created following the development of an innovative product in Brazil that potentially may revolutionize the current way vaccines in Brazil are stored (www.biotecno.com.br).
  • Carlos Morreira Souza Junior is from Belém, Pará, he is a geographer at Terras App Solutions, a company that develops innovative rural property, social and environmental risk monitoring and tracking apps for agricultural, timber and non-timber forest products (www.terras.agr.br).
  • Almas Taj Awan is a postdoctoral researcher at the ThoMSon Mass Spectrometry Laboratory at ENCAMP, Campinas.  Her research project led to the creation of CitGreen – a start-up company that works with orange waste (http://www.citgreen.co/).

The summit will be attended by high-ranking U.S. Government officials, including U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker; Small Business Administration Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet; U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Gayle Smith; Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Catherine Russell; and, Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel.  President Barack Obama will be the special guest, and will discuss his commitment to creating a network to help solve global challenges.
