U.S. Mission to Brazil promotes changes in the Applicant Service Centers (ASCs)

New operating hours and services aim to streamline and improve the process for visa applicants across Brazil

Brasilia, November 1, 2017 – The U.S. Mission in Brazil informs that the Applicant Service Centers (ASCs) located in the cities of Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Recife, and Rio de Janeiro will begin new weekday operating hours – from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The ASCs will no longer operate on Sundays with the exception of the CASV in São Paulo, which will continue to be open from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm on Sundays.

In Porto Alegre, beginning December 1, applicants applying for visas will only need to make a single appointment with the Consulate for both biometric data collection and the visa interview.  The ASC will continue to accept documents from applicants not requiring a visa interview and will remain a pick-up point for passports.

With these changes, the U.S. Mission in Brazil is committed to promoting a more efficient visa application process for the nearly two million Brazilians who travel to the U.S. each year.
