Community Engagement Exchange 2022 has open applications until January 14, 2022
The Community Engagement Exchange Program (CEE), an initiative of the U. S. Department of State in partnership with IREX, is seeking young community leaders from Brazil to participate in a transformational year-long program designed to enable civil society leaders, ages 21-28, to harness the power of networks, relationships, and information for the public good. Applications are open until January 14, 2022.
The CEE helps to prepare young community leaders as they develop innovative solutions to address important issues in their communities. The program includes a fully-funded three-month practicum at a civil society organization in the U.S., as well as activities before and after the program such as a leadership and civic engagement training, and an actionable project to be developed in their home country.
“The U.S. Embassy and Consulates are extremely happy to support community leaders from Brazil to participate in the program and develop their skills, knowledge and networks, as well as to empower participants to positively impact their communities,” observed the U.S. Embassy’s Deputy Cultural Affairs Officer, Julia McKay.
The requirements for the program are:
- Be between the ages of 21 to 28 at the start of the program;
- Be a resident in Brazil;
- Have at least two years of volunteer community development experience;
- Be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English;
- Work in one of CEE’s five program themes (Civic dialogue and peace building; Open and participatory government; Women and gender issues; Resilience and sustainable development; Youth Engagement)
