The online program, in partnership with the Casa Thomas Jefferson, seeks to strengthen English teaching in Brazil’s public schools
Brasília, January 27, 2022: The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil, through the Regional English Language Office (RELO), announce the opening the selection process for the 2022 edition of BRITE (Brazilians Innovating on the Teaching of English) – language skills training that seeks to strengthen the teaching of English and professional development of teachers in public schools in Brazil. The program, which will support the professional development of 500 English teachers, will select between 15 and 19 not-for-profit institutions as partners for the implementation. Proposals must be submitted by February 18 .
The teaching method, developed in partnership with Casa Thomas Jefferson, is based on a singular instructional platform (Canvas) with virtual sessions through Zoom. The course focuses on the National Common Curriculum Base (BNCC), communicative language instruction, integrated skills, and educational technology.
The selection committee includes the U.S. Embassy’s RELO office, as well as the program coordination team at Casa Thomas Jefferson. Successful proposals must include plans to train a minimum of one cohort of 25 public school teachers.
