United States selects young Brazilian scientists to take part in TechGirls 2024

Three girls between the ages of 15 and 17 will be selected. Applications are open until December 8, 2023

Brasilia, October 17, 2023: Applications are now open for TechGirls, a four-week exchange program in the fields of science and technology in the United States. The program will select three Brazilian girls with a leadership potential between the ages of 15 and 17 by the start of the program in July 2024. Interested candidates must be in high school until the end of 2024. Applications are open until December 8, 2023 and can be submitted on the website: https://techgirlsglobal.org/. The final selection process results will be announced in March 2024, and the exchange is scheduled to begin on July 13 of the same year.

Other requirements of the program include science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics skills and an interest in pursuing a career in one of these areas; fluency in English and a commitment to developing a social impact project after the exchange. Since 2012, more than 650 girls in science from all over the world, including six from Brazil, have participated in the program.

During the four weeks in the United States, the selected participants will attend lectures and workshops at an U.S. university, go on technical visits to companies, and stay with an American family. After the exchange, TechGirls will provide five months of mentoring to implement social impact projects, including interactive technology sessions.
