Rio de Janeiro – On March 20, 2018, the U.S. Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro collaborated with an entrepreneurship accelerator, Fábrica de Startups, to host an event with virtual speaker Patrick McGinnis, the author of a bestseller book, “The 10% Entrepreneur.” The event at the WeWork Rio de Janeiro coworking space, attracted an audience of 80 entrepreneurs, startup developers, business leaders, angel investors, business umbrella organization members, managers of incubators and accelerators. Consul General James Story opened the event. He highlighted the importance of startups and small businesses to the U.S. economy, and stressed the U.S.-Brazil partnership in innovation and entrepreneurship. McGinnis discussed how one can become an entrepreneur without leaving one’s daily job. Two hundred viewers accompanied the live broadcast of the event on the Fábrica de Startups Facebook page. The program promoted U.S.-Brazil collaboration in innovation and entrepreneurship.
