We will not consider requests for early appointments sent by fax or any other means.
Please note that our visa information service AUTOMATICALLY gives priority appointments for students and exchange visitor visa applicants as well as for visa renewals (e.g. B2 to B2, or B2 to B1/B2) for visas that expired less than 12 months ago. Visa appointment wait times for student and exchange visitor visa applicants are significantly shorter than ordinary visa applicants. We also make every effort to grant expedited appointments for urgent business travel, e.g. business meetings, conference attendance. Requests for early appointments for tourism purposes are generally not considered emergencies.
|Interviews:||7:00am – 4:00pm (Monday through Friday*)|
|Emergency, non-tourist passport pick-up:||3:00pm – 4:00pm (Monday through Friday*)|

During the rainy season, visa applicants should be aware that the U.S. Consulate in Recife may be required to cancel all appointments on any given day due to inclement weather and flooding in front of the U.S. Consulate. The U. S. Consulate is aware of the discomfort and inconvenience this may cause. However, street flooding on Rua Gonçalves Maia can pose significant health and safety hazards. Should appointments be cancelled, all applicants will be informed by Consular and Security Personnel. Applicants will then be contacted by email or telephone to reschedule their appointment. Rescheduling of applicants’ appointments will be done by the Visa Information Service and NOT by the U.S. Consulate.
